Slegers confirms the setback
“Katie Reid, she was back training with the team, she got an ankle injury, which sets her back, which is unfortunate, so we don’t expect her to be back before Christmas,” Slegers said, as reported by Daily Cannon.
She went on: “That’s unfortunate for her and that’s a setback.” She said everything else was unchanged from the previous night: “Otherwise, the rest is the same as last night.”
This comes at a tough moment for Reid, who had spent a year out before working her way back to first-team training.
Mixed news elsewhere
Slegers reported better news on other members of her squad.
“Kim was back last night, which was great to get her back onto the pitch,” Slegers said. She noted: “There might be a chance Frida Maanum makes it for the game as well.” Daphne van Domselaar is edging ever closer. Maybe a game too early.”
Chloe Kelly, meanwhile, remains unavailable. Arsenal are continuing to assess the hamstring problem that has affected her since the end of September, following a specialist appointment.
“It’s still day-by-day, seeing how the symptoms are, what we can and can’t do, had a specialist appointment a couple of days ago,” Slegers said. “Let’s see where we go from here, but she’s not available for the weekend.”
