Arsenal are away to Fleetwood Town this evening in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, a tie that will be the first competitive senior meeting between the two clubs. Kick-off at Highbury Stadium in Fleetwood, Lancashire, is at 8pm GMT, and the Evening Standard notes that Arsenal are the only Premier League side in this round not drawn against a league rival.
Fleetwood's route to the last 16
The hosts are the lowest-ranked team remaining in the competition, according to the Evening Standard, and one of only three clubs from outside the top flight still involved. Fleetwood came through the first round by beating Chesterfield 1-0 at home, then saw off Shrewsbury 4-0 before knocking out Championship opposition in Sheffield United, winning 1-0. The Standard reports that this is the first time the club has reached the last 16, and that they sit 18th in League Two after 13 games.
Arsenal's cup record under Arteta
Arsenal entered at the previous stage and won 4-2 away to Ipswich Town. The Evening Standard reports that Mikel Arteta's side reached last season's final, where they were beaten at Wembley after a Nico O'Reilly double, and that the manager has taken the competition seriously during his tenure, with one final and two semi-final appearances. Arsenal go into the tie after a 2-0 home win over Everton on Saturday, a result that came as Manchester City dropped points against Aston Villa.
