Christos Tzolis has given a strong indication that he will be part of Arsenal's squad for Sunday's Premier League trip to Liverpool, according to the Evening Standard.
The Greek winger has been out since suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty, a problem that has kept him out of six Arsenal matches. He was pictured in training this week, and Mikel Arteta had already suggested he might be available for the game at Anfield.
Now the player himself appears to have confirmed his involvement. According to The Evening Standard, fans noticed Tzolis had put himself into his Fantasy Premier League side before the current gameweek; such an action would be hard to explain unless he was set to play, because no points are awarded to players who do not get on the field.
Calafiori also retained
The same selection offered a second clue. Tzolis kept Riccardo Calafiori in his fantasy side, with the Evening Standard noting that the Italian had only a minor role in the win over Everton last weekend because of a knock and then played no part in the EFL Cup draw at Fleetwood Town on Tuesday.
The Standard points out that fantasy teams belonging to top-flight players and those close to them have become a useful source of early team news, citing the example of Chelsea striker Joao Pedro, whose injury was first flagged when friends and family removed him from their sides.
Saka still missing
Arsenal will nonetheless travel without Bukayo Saka, who is working his way back from a thigh injury.
Arteta's side head to Merseyside on the back of a 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup, and face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday at 16:30 UK time.
