Arsenal fans react to Mikel Arteta’s Reiss Nelson squad decision

Arsenal fans were left dumbfounded after Mikel Arteta allowed Reiss Nelson to play for the under-23 side on Saturday instead of play for the senior team on Sunday.

Nelson has found first-team chances few and far between so far this season.

The youngster signed a long-term contract back in 2018 to keep him at the Emirates until 2023, but is still yet to nail down a spot in the first-team.

This season, he’s made four Europa League appearances and just two in the Premier League – neither of them starts.

And it seems he won’t break that streak against Leicester on Sunday, after Arteta chose to allow him to play for the under-23 side on Saturday.

The young winger started on the left of midfield in a game against the Liverpool under-23 side.

He didn’t have an awful lot to do, either, as the young Gunners were beaten 4-0 in Merseyside.

Arsenal fans were left scratching their heads after the team selection was revealed, and expressed their frustration on social media.
