Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang used his match-winning brace against Benfica to call out pundit Jamie Redknapp over his brutal criticism of the striker last weekend.
The 31-year-old forward played a decisive role in the Gunners’ dramatic, come-from-behind win over Benfica in the last 32 of the Europa League on Thursday, netting twice in Athens.
Aubameyang had opened the scoring on the night after the first leg was drawn 1-1, but Benfica benefitted from some lax defending and a massive mistake from Dani Ceballos to net twice and take a 3-2 aggregate lead.

Kieran Tierney pulled a goal back for the north Londoners and then, with time running out, Aubameyang popped up at the far post to net his second goal of the night and secure Arsenal’s passage to the round of 16.
But just a few days earlier, after the Gunners had been beaten 1-0 by Premier League leaders Manchester City on Sunday, Aubameyang had been described as ‘past his best’ by Jamie Redknapp.
