Luiz contract update

Arsenal have yet to open talks with David Luiz over a new contract, understands.

The 33-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and negotiations regarding an extension have not yet occurred.

A possible extension for Luiz only makes sense if it’s a player/coach role and there would have to be acceptance from his side that his game time would be limited.

Technical director Edu has yet to hold talks with Luiz’s camp over a possible contract extension, with much of the current focus on finishing the season strongly and securing European football for next season.

Arteta’s vision for Willian

Willian has struggled to find his feet for Arsenal since his move across London from Chelsea and it may be time for Mikel Arteta to cut his losses.

As Kaya Kaynak explains, the hope was that the Brazilian’s experience and cutting edge in the final third would prove to be valuable, following an impressive return for the Blues last term.

However, just three assists have been contributed since joining the Gunners and, for things to improve, there would need to be a considerable increase in playing time.

With the winger 32-years-old, it begs questions as to whether that would be the right approach.
