Man City break Arsenal record with FA Cup win over Swansea City

Manchester City have set a new record of consecutive wins for an English top-flight team with their victory over Swansea City in the FA Cup.

Pep Guardiola’s side ran out 3-1 winners against the Championship club on Wednesday evening to book their place in the FA Cup quarter-final draw.

And in doing so, City extended their winning run to 15 games in all competitions, one more than Preston’s in 1892 and Arsenal’s winning streak in 1987.

City began their 15-game winning run with a 1-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League on December 19.

City have since beat Newcastle United, Chelsea, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, West Brom, Sheffield United, Burnley and Liverpool in the Premier League, while their run also covers wins against Arsenal and Manchester United in the Carabao Cup and victories over Birmingham, Cheltenham and Swansea in the FA Cup.

City, however, officially claim that their current record of consecutive wins stands at 20, although statisticians did not count their penalty shootout victory against Wolves in the Carabao Cup during that run in…
