Edu’s triple Arsenal transfer mission has been revealed amid Hakimi links and Mikel Arteta hint

Arsenal’s transfer priority for the summer window is anyone’s guess.

During the January window the Gunners managed to sign Mat Ryan and Martin Odegaard on loan, but, crucially, they were able to save some money on the wage bill by allowing Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi, and Sokratis.

That should allow Arsenal to be more creative when looking to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Signing a left-back to provide cover for Kieran Tierney would have completed a perfect window for the north London outfit after the Spaniard’s hint, but he was still happy with their business last month.

“We cannot do everything. As I mentioned before there are so many things that we had to do in this transfer window,” Arteta told reporters. “We had to focus on what it was the priority for that. We almost did everything we wanted to do.

“And there are things to do. But when you talk about the squad evolution it’s going to take time and a big effort.

“Then things have to happen your way as well and that’s not the case all the time.”

Whilst a left-back, a midfield partner for Thomas Partey and possibly another creative midfielder might be Arteta’s priority in the summer, some Arsenal fans have other ideas.

Following the 1-0 loss against Aston Villa, there are calls for Hector Bellerin to be replaced at right-back.

Meanwhile, Tariq Lamptey has also been tipped to replace Bellerin in the summer.
