Arsenal are still waiting to announce Mesut Ozil’s exit.
The 32-year-old was spotted in Turkey ahead of his move to Fenerbahce last weekend, but as of writing, he remains a member of Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad – albeit a distant one.
Ozil’s imminent departure is perfect for Arsenal as they’ll be saving £18.2m-a-year on wages and that could possibly fund moves for a couple of players in the summer transfer window.
However, at one stage it looked as if the former Germany international would be seeing out his contract at the Emirates Stadium rather than agreeing to an early termination.

“I do not think there will be a change in the case of Mesut Ozil until the summer of 2021,” Dr. Erkut Sogut, his agent, told Turkish Instagram channel futbolgiant last July.
“He has a contract. There is no change. He will remain in Arsenal.”
And Ozil’s representative doubled down on this stance last month despite confirming interest from Fenerbahce.
“I would like to clearly state our situation regarding Fenerbahçe. Yes, we had meetings with Fenerbahçe. We had a one-on-one conversation with the club’s most authorized people,” Dr. Sogut told Fanatik.
“However, we can never have contact before January for official transfer talks. We received transfer offers for Mesut from all over the world.
“Fenerbahce’s interest is also known.
“Nothing has changed for Mesut right now. Under these circumstances, it seems that Mesut will complete the season in Arsenal.”
Of course, that is no longer the case as with Ozil set to join Fenerbahce, he’s obviously changed his mind about leaving Arsenal before his contract was due to expire.
