Shkodran Mustafi has sent a message to Mesut Ozil.
football.london understands that the former Germany international said goodbye to his team-mates at the London Colney training ground on Sunday ahead of a move to Fenerbahce.
The 32-year-old has reached an agreement with the Gunners to terminate his £350,000 per week contract and move to the Turkish club on a free transfer.
And Ozil landed in Turkey at just after 1am local time on Sunday, and was pictured with a Fenerbahce scarf and his M10 branding.
All that stands in his way is a medical and once that’s passed, expect official confirmation at some point this week.
Ozil’s imminent move has coincided with Arsenal’s preparations for the Monday night Premier League clash against Newcastle United.
As a result, there’s been a hush around the Gunners squad following that defeat but Mustafi has become one of the first to speak out and he has a message for his compatriot.
“Bro, you have been the most unselfish player on and off the pitch, I have ever shared the dressing room with,” Mustafi wrote on Instagram. “You will be always remembered as the #AssistKing.
“Unfortunately we as a team haven’t been able to assist you when you needed us the most.
“All the best.”
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce sporting director Emre has revealed when he expects to announce Ozil has officially signed.
“I say both him and his family are welcomed to our homes. I have a lot to say, but what I have to say will probably be the common thoughts of the entire Fenerbahçe community,” he said.
