Campbell’s Newcastle warning

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has told his old team that they will need to be on top of their game this evening as they face a ‘fighting’ Newcastle United side.

The Magpies come into the Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on the back of three consecutive defeats in all competitions, with Steve Bruce coming under increasing pressure.

The Gunners will be looking for a return to winning ways in the league after their 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on Thursday evening.

Campbell, speaking on the Same Old Arsenal Podcast, said: “We have to be very careful about how we approach this game and we have to make sure we are at the top of our game because they are going to make life difficult for us that is for sure.

“They’ve got 19 points, sitting in 15th position – do you think Steve Bruce is going to keep them up? I think he will.

“That’s a job well done. I don’t know what Newcastle fans…they say they want a team that fights, they are fighting! They are!”

What Ozil said to teammates

Mesut Ozil’s departure from Arsenal is expected to be announced officially today, understands.

Ozil has reached an agreement in principle with the Gunners to terminate his £350,000-a-week contract with immediate effect.

The former Germany international has not featured under Mikel Arteta since March of last year after being left out of the Spaniard’s Premier League and Europa League squads.
