Arsenal are set to release Mesut Ozil on a free transfer.
The Athletic have revealed that the 32-year-old and the Gunners have reached an agreement in principle to terminate his reported £350,000-a-week contract with immediate effect.
As a result, not only will Ozil’s seven-and-a-half-year career at Arsenal will come to an end but he’s expected to travel to Fenerbahce this weekend and sign for his boyhood club.
Once Ozil’s exit is confirmed, the Gunners will most likely continue with their plans for the remainder of the transfer window.

And there are three moves that manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu have already decided on.
The first being trimming down the first-team squad even further with Sokratis one of many tipped to leave the Emirates Stadium before the window closes.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of Arsenal’s 4-0 win over West Brom, Arteta revealed that he was expecting a number of players to go out on loan this month.
“Well, we have a large squad. We knew that,” Arteta revealed.
“A lot of things that should have happened in the summer we could not accomplish them for different reasons.
“There are a lot of players that are going to go on loan. They are going to leave.
“And that’s the priority at the moment because we cannot sustain the numbers that we have in certain positions.
“We are looking to do that.”
