Emiliano Buendia to Arsenal: £40m transfer fee, dream shirt number, agent contact, Edu’s mission

There’s still enough time for Arsenal to bolster their squad before the January transfer window.

A year ago the Gunners left it rather late to get deals for Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares over the line, with both defenders initially joining on loan before earning permanent contracts in the summer.

So far this month, the focus at the Emirates Stadium has been to trim the first-team squad before focusing on any incomings.

For Arsenal, they’ve already allowed Sead Kolasinac and William Saliba to join Schalke and Nice on loan respectively, while Matt Macey has left to join Hibernian in Scotland.

But are the Gunners done in terms of winter business?

Reports would suggest no as a creative midfielder as well as a goalkeeper seems to be on Mikel Arteta’s radar ahead of deadline day.

With that said, here’s what has been said about Emiliano Buendia to Arsenal.

Arsenal’s interest

At the beginning of the month, revealed that Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Emi Buendia but have yet to make a formal offer for the Norwich midfielder.

The 24-year-old was a stand-out player for the Canaries in their disappointing Premier League campaign last season, creating 3.1 chances per 90 minutes and creating seven assists as they were relegated from the top flight.

Buendia is one of several players on the Gunners’ transfer shortlist and Mikel Arteta is an admirer of the Argentine.

A source close to the player told last month that Buendia is “focused on Norwich and getting promoted” but refused to rule out a possible January move saying that “it depends on Norwich.
