Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Tuesday, January 12.

£18m Diawara boost

Roma general manager Tiago Pinto is reportedly willing to sell suggested Arsenal target Amadou Diawara, who has been linked with a January exit.

Diawara was named to the bench for his sixth successive Serie A match at the weekend and has now played less than 40 minites of Serie A action since the opening day.

And according to RomaPress via HITC, Pinto held talks with Diawara and his representatives and agreed that the midfielder can be offloaded this month if an acceptable offer is received. The report claims that the price is £18million.

Mari hands Arteta selection dilemma

Pablo Mari has provided Mikel Arteta with a selection dilemma in the left-sided centre-back position after a series of encouraging performances.

Arsenal signed fellow left-footed centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes during the summer to take one of the starting positions. Brazilian Gabriel has missed the last six games through suspension and testing positive for Covid-19. In that time, Mari has proven his qualities, and Arteta recently heaped praise on his shoulders.

He said: “We had to throw him in because we had some injuries, suspensions and probably it was not even fair for him because he has missed a lot of football in the last year. But he is a leader. He is someone who trains really hard, he is really professional. He is a great communicator on the pitch and he gives you some security, some stability.
