Arsenal to make announcement that affects Emi Buendia and Julian Brandt transfers

Arsenal’s January transfer window plans are already in full swing.

Despite the window not even being open for a week yet, the Gunners have already begun trimming down the numbers of their first-team squad with a couple of loan deals.

Sead Kolasinac has rejoined Schalke, while William Saliba is spending the remainder of the season back in France with Ligue 1 side Nice.

And there is set to be more exits from the Emirates Stadium before the window closes, with Mesut Ozil and Sokratis – not registered in the Premier League or Europa League squads – both linked with moves away.

According to reports, Arsenal are preparing to announce the departure of another first-team player.

However, it’s not Ozil or Sokratis.

The Daily Mail state that third-choice goalkeeper Matt Macey is set to swap England for Scotland and join Hibernian – initially on loan until the end of the campaign where he will then become a free agent.

An arrival in north London almost 10 years ago, the 26-year-old has made just two senior appearances for the Gunners and is firmly behind Bernd Leno and Runar Alex Runarsson in the pecking order under Mikel Arteta.

Macey’s imminent exit could affect Arsenal’s recruitment plans for the remainder of the January transfer window.
