William Saliba was straight into the Nice side following his loan from Arsenal but it wasn’t the best starts for the young defender.
Saliba returned to France as he joined Nice for the rest of the season having previously impressed with Saint-Etienne.
Arsenal signed him in 2019 for £27m though he is yet to make an appearance for the Gunners and was left out of Mikel Arteta’s side this campaign.
It’s hoped that a spell with Nice will help Saliba though his first match with the Ligue 1 side ended in defeat.
Indeed the clash with Brest was all but over inside the first half an hour with Steve Mounie and Franck Honorat netting.

Saliba was also booked early on for a late tackle as he overran the ball when attempting to dribble out from the back.
Saliba was involved in both goals as he tried to catch Mounie offside befure being caught on his heels allowing Honorat to double Brest’s lead.
Arteta had admitted he feels bad for leaving Saliba out of his Premier League squad though Arsenal technical director Edu believes time away from north London could prove beneficial.

Edu said: “William Saliba is a player with a huge amount of talent and potential.
“We’re confident he will have a great career with us but we must remember that he is still only 19 years old and has a lot of time ahead of him.
“William experienced a very challenging time last year, with his playing time limited by injury and the early ending of the Ligue 1 season due to the pandemic.
