Arsenal continued their wretched start to the season on Sunday night, falling to Burnley in a disastrous 1-0 defeat. Granit Xhaka was sent off for a foolish reaction, raising his hand to Ashley Westwood’s throat, while Mikel Arteta’s side showed little attacking invention to break down a disciplined Burnley defence.
It continues a run of four home defeats in the league, which they have not done since 1959, while the team languishes in 15th place in the table, 12 points behind Spurs and the top of the standings.
Arsenal’s deplorable start to the season has only seen greater scrutiny on the club’s recruitment and pressure on the upcoming January transfer window.
With the desperate need for immediate improvement in mind, we have updates on two key midfield targets and the future of a young defender who is yet to find his feet in north London.
Here is a round-up of the latest Arsenal transfer rumours.

PSG deal Houseem Aouar blow
Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, who has been extensively linked with a move to north London in the past.
Arsenal had an offer in the region of £35million rejected in the summer and Aouar ultimately decided to remain with the Ligue 1 side. And now it has been reported that PSG are the favourites to sign the French international.
Per RMC Sport via Sports Mole, PSG and Lyon plan to hold talks regarding a potential transfer over the coming months. The 22-year-old is expected to remain with Lyon until the summer, but then could move onto a bigger club.
His current deal runs until 2023 and it is said that he is unlikely to pen a new contract as he seeks a greater and new challenge. Arsenal are on the lookout for a creative midfielder, with Aouar deemed as a possible solution.
