William Saliba has suggested he is “locked up” at Arsenal with the defender having been left out of Mikel Arteta’s Premier League squad.
Saliba joined the Gunners from Saint Etienne in 2019 though spent last season back on loan with the Ligue 1 club.
Many expected the youngster to play a key role at the Emirates this season, though he has been unable to impress Arteta.
Reports suggest Saliba has no future at the club while Arteta is in charge, and Saliba has appeared to make light of his situation.
In an Instagram exchange with Matteo Guendouzi, who is currently on loan at Hertha Berlin from the Gunners, and Nicolas Pepe, Saliba praise Guendouzi’s goal at Borussia Monchengladbach.
William Saliba has been limited to youth team appearances for Arsenal this season
Pepe replied and said: “This is your problem, you comment on everything.”
Saliba replied by saying: “Hahaha, I’m sending well wishes to the brother that was locked up like me.”
Before Guendouzi, who fell out of favour under Arteta following his conduct in a defeat at Brighton, had the final word when he said: “We are together bro”.
Arteta has admitted his guilt at Saliba’s fate with the youngster having been resigned to development squad games.
“I feel really bad for William Saliba,” Arteta explained. “Because we had so many central defenders, we decided to leave him out of the squad which was really hurtful for me to do.
“I was hoping that Pablo would be back in two weeks but he had a setback and then we don’t have Pablo and we don’t have William when he’s fit and available to play, but when you make those decisions, you can’t always think about every possible outcome.
