Arsenal lifted spirits during the week with a comfortable win over Rapid Wien in the Europa League to confirm top spot in their group in front of supporters at the Emirates Stadium.

The win was much-needed with the Gunners struggling in the Premier League, currently sitting in 14th with just 13 points from their first 10 games.

And they will be desperate to continue any good feeling they created on Thursday night with a win over North London rivals Tottenham on Sunday.

Though, it will be some challenge with Jose Mourinho’s men in fine form, currently top of the Premier League following an excellent start to the season.

Thomas Partey

Midfielder Thomas Partey suffered a thigh injury prior to the international break against Aston Villa.

The midfielder, who arrived from Atletico Madrid in the summer for £45m, has not featured in any of Arsenal’s last four matches in all competitions, including the win over Rapid Wien.

But speaking after the game, Arteta delivered an encouraging update on the Ghana international.

“Well, he’s putting a lot of pressure on us,” said Arteta.

“He’s training tomorrow with us and let’s see how it goes in the next couple of days.”

Arteta emphasised before the win over Rapid Vienna on Thursday that he wants to be cautious with Partey’s situation.

“He’s been been training separately in the last week or so we have to scan him again to see how he’s feeling. He’s a player that’s so willing that he’s pushing us every day because he wants to do it.

“At the same time we have to protect and make sure that when he gets back into the team he’s ready to do that to whatever extent that we can use him.
