Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes Mikel Arteta needs plenty more investment in order to take Arsenal to the next level.
So far this season, the Gunners have shown signs of improvement under Arteta – especially defensively, which has proved to be their problem in recent campaigns.
The additions of Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey have certainly helped the Spaniard improve his squad in that area of the field, with the two settling in at the Emirates Stadium seamlessly.
However, it’s actually been at the other end of the pitch where Arsenal have been struggling recently, with their forwards not firing in the early stages of this season. Highlighted once again in the 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Sunday.

Hasselbaink – who is a legend in the blue part of London, at Chelsea – believes Arteta needs to be backed again in the upcoming transfer windows, and he still requires time to make the team his own.
The Spaniard has spent around £77m across two transfer windows recruiting six first-team considered players, with approximately £23m raised in sales and Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Emiliani Martinez the significant names departing the club on a permanent basis.
“I think Arteta knows where he wants to go. I think he just needs time. He needs investment, I do think of the last three managers, he has had the worst squad, so there’s a lot that needs to be done,” Hasselbaink said on Sky Sports.
“He needs time, but they’re still Arsenal. He wants to change their mentality of conceding, they were a soft touch in the past and he needs to change that.
