Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal are still ‘a few windows’ away from challenging for the Premier League title.

The Gunners currently sit 12th in the table after four wins from their opening nine matches.

Arteta guided Arsenal to an eighth-placed finish last term and is now targeting a top-four finish to return the club to the Champions League.

The Gunners strengthened their midfield in the summer window with the £45 million signing of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.

But Arteta is keen for Arsenal to strengthen further before they can consider a push for the top.

Asked how far away Arsenal are from being Premier League title challengers, Arteta told Sky Sports: ‘That [will] take a few windows at least to do that.
