Arsenal suffer Houssem Aouar transfer blow as Juventus plot move

Serie A giants Juventus are said to be eyeing a move for one of Arsenal’s summer targets.

According to Calcio Mercato, Juventus are planning a move for Houssem Aouar, who was said to be one of the Gunners’ prime targets in the summer window.

Arsenal ended up signing Thomas Partey instead with their budget unable to stretch to sign both players, leaving Aouar at Lyon.

Reports earlier this week suggested Aouar was frustrated by a lack of concrete offer from the Gunners who were unwilling to meet Lyon’s £45million valuation.

But that frustration may not have to continue with Aouar now said to be attracting interest from Italian superpower Juventus.

A report from Calcio Mercato claims Juve boss Andrea Pirlo is keen on the midfielder and his board could back him by stumping up more than £50million to get the deal done.

It’s claimed Juventus will explore the option of a two-year loan with an obligatory option to buy but that they are prepared to make a firm offer if Lyon are not keen on the idea of a loan.

It could be bad news for Arsenal if they plan on returning with a fresh bid for Aouar, though it remains to be seen whether the Gunners board will be willing to fork out another large sum having spent heavily last summer.
