Mikel Arteta says he will consider playing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a central role following Arsenal’s defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday evening.
An own goal from Bukayo Saka plus a second-half double from Ollie Watkins handed Villa a deserved victory at the Emirates Stadium.
Aubameyang, meanwhile, played on the left flank but struggled to make an impact as he failed to register a shot on goal for the first time in a Premier League game.
Arteta is now facing renewed calls to play Aubameyang through the middle following Alexandre Lacazette’s poor form.
And the Arsenal manager admits he needs to change his system with Arsenal failing to score from open play in their last four Premier League games.
‘A team function is a collective thing that we have to do more,’ said Arteta.
