Willian & Lacazette woeful as Holding struggles – Arsenal player ratings vs Aston Villa

Leno: Emi Martinez has more Premier League clean sheets at the Emirates than Leno this season. Three goals conceded

Bellerin: Had a torrid time against Grealish all evening. Couldn’t match his running with the ball and poor positioning throughout. 5.

Gabriel: Struggled to contain Villa’s dynamic attackers. Looked more dangerous as an attacking player in the final third in the second half. 5.

Holding: Backed off Grealish and Barkley. Two goals came down his side and he was dragged all over the place by the England duo. A really disappointing performance. 5.

Tierney: Supplied some great crosses to Lacazette and his work ethic was unquestioned. One of the players who tries tirelessly throughout the 90 minutes. 6.

Partey: Struggled in the first half after suffering a thigh injury. Came off at half-time. 5.

Elneny: A contrast to his performance at Old Trafford. Unable to break up the play and it’s clear that he needs Partey alongside him. 5.

Willian: 310 minutes on the pitch and the Brazilian has attempted just 2 take-ons (1 completed) in the league this season. Slows down the attacking play and didn’t look up for this one at all. 4.

Saka: Scored an own goal and had little influence in the game. 5.

Lacazette: Had fewer touches (9) than any other player on the pitch in the first half at the Emirates and won 0/3 contested duels. Missed a sitter too. 4.

Aubameyang: One goal from open play this season. Isolated but you’d expect more from the Arsenal captain. 5.

Substitutes:

Ceballos: Limited influence on the game. 5.

Nketiah: Limited influence on the game. 5.

Pepe: Tried to get things going when he came on. A couple of good crosses and wanted to run at people. Deserves a chance to start. 6.
