Joe Willock admits he is trying to learn from the disappointment of being frozen out of Premier League action so far this season, after a superb display in the Europa League as Arsenal beat Molde 4-1.
The 21-year-old was in fine form as the Gunners came from behind to beat the Norwegian side at the Emirates, scoring the last of Arsenal’s four goals after two own goals and Nicolas Pepe gave them a 3-1 lead.
The midfielder has appeared in all three of the club’s Europa League games this season, but is yet to make a Premier League appearance and was not even on the bench against Manchester United at the weekend.
This comes after he made 29 league appearances last season, so progress appears to have stalled, but he insists he trusts the manager to give him his chance when he deserves it, even though it is disappointing to miss out.
‘To be honest I’m just taking it game by game, it’s part of my journey. I’m a young kid and I’m trying to play well every time I get a chance,’ Willock told BT Sport.
