Mohamed Elneny is reportedly set for a contract extension after forcing his way into Mikel Arteta’s plans at Arsenal.
The Egyptian midfielder looked to be on his way out of the club after returning from a loan spell with Besiktas but he has established himself in the starting XI after an impressive start to the season.
He has made nine appearances for the club this season and played alongside £45million summer signing Thomas Partey in the heart of the Arsenal midfield in their 1-0 win over Manchester United this weekend.
Elneny’s current deal expires at the end of the season and, according to the Daily Mail, talks are set to begin to extend his stay in north London.
However, Arteta played down talk of the former Basel central midfielder getting a new deal just yet.
‘Let’s go step by step please,’ he said when asked about Elneny’s contract situation.

‘What I can say is that I am really pleased with the player and everything that he is doing and hopefully he can continue like that and perform really well throughout the season.
