Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wants to see Mohamed Elneny keep improving having shone in recent weeks.
Elneny spent last season on loan at Besiktas with many expecting the midfielder to leave the Gunners in the summer.
He stayed at the Emirates and remains under contract until July 2022 having become a key figure under Arteta.
Though the boss is keen to see Elneny keep improving following a strong performance in the win over Manchester United.
Arteta said: “I think he is responding really well to all the challenges we are putting in front of him.

“He had a big one when he came back from his loan spell to show what he could bring to the squad and I think everyone has seen what he can do, so I am really pleased with his performances and what he brings to the team.”
And on whether Elneny could be offered a new contract, the boss added: “Let’s go step by step please!
“What I can say is that I am really pleased with the player and everything that he is doing and hopefully he can continue like that and perform rally well throughout the season.”

Elneny praised Arteta following the win at Old Trafford, saying: “Arteta is very good at studying the opposition.
“He gave us instructions on how to close down the spaces against Manchester United before the game to avoid what happened to Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig recently.
“We are happy with the victory because we won for the first time at Old Trafford since 2006 and it comes after two consecutive losses against Manchester City and Leicester.
