Ian Wright slams Solskjaer and says Man Utd would be better under Mikel Arteta

Ian Wright has heavily criticised Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, branding his tactics ‘embarrassing’, and believes the club would be title contenders under Mikel Arteta.

The Red Devils are still yet to win at Old Trafford in the Premier League this season and limped to another home defeat at the weekend when Arsenal recorded a 1-0 victory thanks to a solitary penalty from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Wright was scathing about United’s approach in that game and believes Solskjaer has been shown up by the work Arteta has done in a much shorter period of time at Arsenal.

Speaking on his podcast Wrighty’s House, he said: ‘Can I just say something, I’m just going to blast it in: If Arteta is managing Man United they are challenging.

‘Because, for me now I’ve got to the point where, when you look at the inconsistency of Man United with the components they have, the team that they have, what they should be doing – we’re talking about Pogba here, World Cup…
