Pepe, Martinelli, Willian – Latest Arsenal injury news and return dates ahead of Leicester City

Arsenal face Leicester City for the second time in just over a month as they return to Premier League action on Sunday evening.

The two sides met at the King Power Stadium in the third round of the Carabao Cup and Mikel Arteta’s side came out as 2-0 winners on September 23.

For tonight’s game at the Emirates, 8th-placed Arsenal host 7th-placed Leicester, both of whom are on nine points, are only separated by goal difference.

Both teams will look to get back to winning ways in the top flight after losing their last games in the League, but they picked up victories in the Europa League midweek.

The Gunners’ task is complicated, however, by a list of injury concerns.

Here is a round-up of all the latest Arsenal injury news ahead of the game on Sunday.

Nicolas Pepe

The 25-year-old was a notable absentee from the extensive range of photographs taken during the club’s training session at London Colney on Saturday afternoon.

Whether we can read anything into this remains to be seen.

Pepe has started Arsenal’s past two matches since they returned to action following the international break.

Does it mean the club’s record signing will miss the match with Leicester?

Dani Ceballos

The Spanish midfielder missed Arsenal’s 2-1 away win over Rapid Vienna on Thursday after suffering a knock to his left ankle but will be checked ahead of the Leicester game.

The Gunners said: “Slight ankle bruising, will miss Thursday’s match. Being assessed ahead of Sunday.”

He did, however, train on Saturday, so he could be in line for some game time.

Willian

The Brazilian winger suffered a slight injury to his right calf against Manchester City and also missed Thursday’s match.

Arsenal confirm he will have to be assessed ahead of Sunday’s game against Leicester.

He was pictured training on Saturday afternoon, though.
