New Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been backed to shine for the Gunners by one of the club’s former players.
The 27-year-old came off the bench for his debut on Saturday following his £45m arrival from Atletico Madrid on deadline day.
Partey was brought in by Mikel Arteta to add some steel and creativity to the side as the Spaniard looks to mastermind a successful season in charge.
There are big expectations around the Ghana international, who came through the ranks in the Spanish capital before going on to play more than 160 games.

One player who knows all about moving to England from Spain is Denis Suarez.
The 26-year-old Celta Vigo midfielder had a loan spell with Arsenal during the first half of 2019.
Suarez, who at the time was on Barcelona’s books, never started a game for the Gunners but made six appearances off the bench.
And he reckons Partey’s physical nature will ensure he’ll be a hit at the Emirates Stadium.
“Arsenal lacked a player of that profile,” said Suarez.
“Thomas, because of his physique, will feel comfortable in England.”
Suarez has played 33 games for Celta since leaving the Nou Camp last summer.
His venture in England with Arsenal – his second having briefly played for Manchester City in 2011 and 2012 – proved to be a short lived one and he says he now feels a lot more settled in Spain.
“When I was young and at Celta I always thought I would like to play in the top division with Celta,” he said.
“It was always something I had in my mind.
