Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Gunners told to make Aouar decision, Saliba development

It’s nearly a week since the international transfer window closed but the rumour mill at Arsenal is not stopping.

The Gunners had a successful transfer window without breaking the bank in the process.

The club spent £67.5m but recouped £20m through goalkeeper Emi Martinez’s departure to Aston Villa and, crucially, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signed a new deal with Mikel Arteta’s side.

And a late deadline day move for Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey complemented new additions Dani Ceballos, Cedric Soares, Willian, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Runar Alex Runarsson as well.

But not all is said and done as the domestic transfer window remains open until October 16.

Here are the latest Arsenal transfer rumours.

Arsenal sent Aouar transfer message

Former Newcastle and Tottenham man David Ginola believes Houssem Aouar should be at the top of Arteta’s transfer wish-list, reports the Daily Express.

Lyon reportedly demanded £55m for the 22-year-old and rejected an offer thought to be around £35m from the Gunners.

But Arsenal still need more midfield creativity and they could return for Aouar in 2021, a year when Ozil’s £350,000-a-week contract will come to an end.

“Being replaced by Aouar would have been a fantastic choice,” Ginola told Sky Sports News.

“He’s definitely the type of player that Arsenal fans would love to watch in the middle of the park, that’s for sure.

“If he wants to stay at Lyon, that’s his concern, he’s still a young player.

“To replace Ozil, I think he’s the best choice for Arsenal.”
