Arsene Wenger delivers verdict on Arsenal’s transfer window after £45m Thomas Partey deal

Arsene Wenger says Arsenal could be the surprise package in the Premier League this season under Mikel Arteta.

Arteta got the midfielder he was after when the Gunners landed Thomas Partey on transfer deadline day in a window that also saw them land the likes of Gabriel.

It has left legendary former Arsenal boss Wenger suitably impressed.

In an interview with the Guardian, Wenger was asked what advice he would give to Arteta.

The Frenchman said Arteta needs to stay true to his beliefs and revealed he thinks the Gunners can make the top four this season after their transfer window.

He said: “To continue to have a grip on the team, as he has at the moment. And to go to the end of his beliefs.

“I think there is a good team spirit and they have a good chance to do well.

“I believe it will not be very difficult to improve on the number of points they got last season.
