Thomas Partey to help Arsenal play various formations and practice ‘certain structures’

Thomas Partey’s role at Arsenal has been hinted at by Mikel Arteta, suggesting the midfielder will help the Gunners play “different formations”.

The Ghanian signed for the north London side on transfer deadline day after his £45m release clause at Atletico Madrid was activated.

With nearly 200 games for the La Liga giants that include Champions League experience, the midfielder’s move has been praised by pundits.

And Arteta has described how the 27-year-old will provide more versatility to his Arsenal side.

Speaking on the club’s official website, Arteta said: “We identified him a few months ago and we have been following his progress, and obviously the more you know about the squad, you know more about where you think you can improve it.
