Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Mesut Ozil contract talks denied, Stan Kroenke ‘frustrated’

The summer transfer window may have closed but Arsenal are still able to get deals over the line.

The domestic transfer window runs until October 16, meaning Arsenal can buy or sell to EFL clubs.

And there is already talk of a departure wit William Saliba linked with a Championship loan move.

Reports are also suggesting Mesut Ozil could be on his way via a cancelled contract having been frozen out of Mikel Arteta’s plans since March.

No Ozil talks

Recent reports have suggested Arsenal have opened talks with Ozil to terminate his contract.

The Germany international has been frozen out at the Emirates Stadium since March over his contract, which earns him a whopping £350,000 per week.

But ESPN claim no such talks have been had despite Ozil being left out of Arsenal’s Europa League squad.

A source close to Ozil is said to have indicated that the midfielder is determined to win back his place under Arteta.

Ozil rejects offer

It’s a double dose of Ozil gossip today.

That’s because Ozil is also said to have rejected an offer to play in Saudi Arabia.

It’s said the midfielder is determined to see out his contract at the Emirates Stadium and that owner Stan Kroenke is growing significantly frustrated.

“I understand that Saudi Arabia’s interest in Premier League players doesn’t end with Juan Mata,” transfer expert Duncan Castles said on the Transfer Window Podcast.

He added: “There has also been a proposal to Mesut Ozil which would go down very well with the hierarchy at Arsenal if they managed to get Ozil off their books.”
