Mesut Ozil’s 13-word response after Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal Europa League squad announcement

It’s official, Mesut Ozil has been left out of Arsenal’s 24-man Europa League squad.

The Gunners were only able to name a squad of 24 due to UEFA regulations requiring four of their eight homegrown places must go to players trained at the club.

As a result, Arteta was only able to name three: Hector Bellerin, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Dejan Iliev.

Furthermore, only 17 non-homegrown players could be named by the north London outfit, but with 19 such players in their setup, there was always going to be two surprise omissions.

And as revealed yesterday, Sokratis and Ozil are the two players to pay the price for Arteta’s sizeable first-team squad.

This means Ozil may have already played his final game for the Gunners – unless he’s being saved for the Premier League campaign.

With that said, there was some good news for the 31-year-old after the squad announcement.

He has now reached 25million followers on Twitter and responded with a 13-word message after hitting the milestone.

“This is amazing! Thank you so much for 25 Mio followers on @Twitter!” he wrote.
