Arsenal will reportedly hold fresh talks with Mesut Ozil over a pay-off which could see the German leave the Emirates in January.
Ozil is Arsenal’s highest earner, believed to be taking home wages of £350,000 per week.
But he’s not wanted by Mikel Arteta with the Gunners boss leaving the former Real Madrid star out of his Europa League squad.
Ozil is into the final year of his contract but Arsenal are keen to shift him earlier having tried reach an agreement before the transfer window shut.
The Mirror claim the Premier League giants will now re-open talks with Ozil over a pay-off, reporting that it could see the World Cup winner head to the States in January.
Mesut Ozil could leave Arsenal in January
Ozil did not want to leave Arsenal this summer and received praise by offering to pay the wages of club mascot Gunnersaurus.
He has not been given a chance under Arteta this season having refused to take a pay cut during the coronavirus lockdown.
On Ozil, the boss recently said: “I’m really happy with the performance here, how difficult they’re making things for the coaching staff to select the squad.
“The team is evolving, you can see the level they are achieving. This is where we are at the moment.

“We want to evolve more and play better and compete better. We need to keep maintaining that.
“We are picking the players that we believe are the best for each game. You can see we keep training, it’s what we’re trying to do.
“You can see that the players we are changing, we are using, it’s very difficult every week not for Mesut but for some other players as well to make the squad. Every week we try to pick the right players.
