Jack Wilshere has ‘unfinished business’ at Arsenal as Mikel Arteta touted to save career

Jack Wilshere has been touted to return to Arsenal, where he has unfinished business.

That is according to talkSPORT host Adrian Durham, who believes Mikel Arteta is the ideal manager to get his career back on track.

The Englishman was released by West Ham on deadline day after all parties agreed to terminate his contract.

Wilshere had one year left on his £100,000-a-week deal but club chiefs paid him off to leave.

It means the 28-year-old goes into the season without a team.

Injuries have followed the midfielder around throughout his career, crippling what could have been a special player who showed immense promise during his time at Arsenal.

But a return has not been ruled out and Durham reckons it is the right move.

He said on talkSPORT: “I’ve heard a rumour that Jack Wilshere was going to go back to Arsenal.

“I know people might scoff at it, but actually I think there’s a lot of sense there.

“He won’t be playing every week, but with a Europa League campaign, I think he’ll be well managed by Arteta.

“I think it’ll be a sentimental thing but I think it’ll be a positive thing for Jack Wilshere to go back to Arsenal and contribute.

“There’s unfinished business for Jack at Arsenal. He was meant to do something really special at Arsenal.

“If he goes back there he’s got an understanding manager who will put his arm around him and allow him that time to stay fit and to play and express himself.

“I think it could be the perfect thing for him.”

Wilshere has been linked with a number of clubs, most recently Rangers, who have former England team-mate Steven Gerrard in charge.
