Thomas Partey has thanked Atletico Madrid supporters in a post on social media, after his move to Arsenal was confirmed.
The Ghana midfielder completed his move to the Emirates Stadium on Monday, after the Gunners agreed to activate his £45 million release clause.
It is understood that the midfielder completed the bulk of his medical in Madrid and arrived in London on Monday evening to finalise his transfer before the deadline.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was desperate to add a dynamic central midfielder to his squad before the deadline, with Partey always the number one target.

Speaking after the signing was confirmed, Arteta told the official Arsenal website: “We have been watching Thomas for a while, so we’re now delighted to add such a high quality player to our squad.
“He is a dynamic midfielder with great energy. He brings a lot of experience from a top club that has competed at the highest level in La Liga and the Champions League for several years.
“We’re very impressed with his attitude and his approach to the game.
“He’s an intelligent footballer and we’re looking forward to him integrating into our system and contributing to the progress we’re building at the moment at the club.”
Partey took to social media on Tuesday morning to issue a heartfelt message to Atleti fans, as he begins his new career in north London.
“Dear Atletico fans, today I only have words of gratitude with you,” Partey wrote on his Instagram account.
