So, the main summer transfer window has now closed following Monday night’s 11pm deadline.

However, Arsenal and their Premier League rivals can still do business with EFL clubs until October 16.

Arsenal made a big move on deadline day, signing midfielder Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid in a £45million deal.

Meanwhile, Lucas Torreira moved in the opposite direction on loan.

Simeone ‘very angry’ at Partey sale

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is reported to be “very angry” about losing Partey to Arsenal.

The Gunners made a deadline day swoop to sign Partey after triggering his £45million release clause.

Arsenal had previously appeared unwilling to meet the asking price and Simeone was apparently expecting the midfielder to stay put.

Spanish media outlet Libertad Digital reports that the Argentine was “so sure” that Partey would not be leaving that he has been talking to Lucas Torreira, who has joined on loan from Arsenal, about them forming a midfield partnership.

Partey spent five years at the Wanda Metropolitano, making 188 appearances for the La Liga outfit.
