Arsenal have given supporters a first glimpse of Thomas Partey’s shirt, complete with his new squad number.

The Gunners sealed the signing of the Ghana international from Atletico Madrid on deadline day, after agreeing to activate his £45million release clause.

Partey completed his routine medical checks in Madrid before travelling to London to put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract at the Emirates.

Speaking after the signing was confirmed, Arteta told the official Arsenal website: “We have been watching Thomas for a while, so we’re now delighted to add such a high quality player to our squad.

Partey has been given the number 18 shirt, previously worn by defender Nacho Monreal, who left Arsenal to join Real Sociedad at the beginning of last season.

Prior to Monreal, previous owners include Sebastien Squillaci, Mikael Silvestre, Pascal Cygan and Giles Grimandi.

And ahead of his official photoshoot with the club photographer, Arsenal posted a picture of his shirt for sale in the club store, complete with his new squad number.
