Arsenal are reportedly considering involving Lucas Torreira in a swap deal to land Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has targeted midfielders Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey as the clock ticks down towards transfer deadline day next week.
But it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will be able to sign either of those players.
Atletico Madrid are playing hardball over Partey’s £45million release clause, while Aouar is expected to cost a similar amount, and the Gunners could also face competition from Juventus to sign the Lyon ace.

So Diawara has emerged a potential cut-price alternative, with Roma said to value him at £19m – which would be reduced further with Torreira thrown into the bargain.
Diawara, 23, can play as a defensive midfielder or slightly further forward in the centre of the park, and has 10 caps for Guinea.
