Women – Tottenham Hotspur Women – Match Report

WHAT HAPPENED

Lisa Evans hit a hat-trick in the north London derby on Saturday, as we booked our place in the semi-finals of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.

Jordan Nobbs was also on the scoresheet, while Lotte Wubben-Moy featured on her return to the club and Ruby Mace made her debut.

We started strongly and came close to an opener through Caitlin Foord, who saw her looping header bounce back off the bar from a stunning Leah Williamson delivery.

But the remainder of the first half proved to be a tightly-contested affair, as Tottenham committed fouls high up the pitch to stifle our build-up play and restrict space in the final third.

We continued to push on, though, and after missing a number of golden opportunities, Nobbs pounced on a defensive error to curl the ball into the top m corner from 25 yards.

Evans went on to double our lead with a cool finish, converting Vivianne Miedema’s defence-splitting pass, before scoring her second of the evening with an instinctive left-footed effort.

But our No 17 wasn’t done there. In search of a late comeback, Tottenham pushed high up the pitch and left themselves exposed on the break, allowing Beth Mead to break free down the right and tee up Evans for her hat-trick.
