Houssem Aouar is still in Lyon’s plans for the 2020/21 season as club president Jean-Michel Aulas remains defiant over the Arsenal target.
Mikel Arteta is desperately trying to land the midfielder from the Ligue 1 side before the window shuts.
Arsenal have nine days remaining to get a deal over the line for the talented 22-year-old.
And it emerged on Friday night that the Gunners have made a £32m move for Aouar.
It falls short of Lyon’s valuation, however, and Arsenal are set to come back with an improved offer.
Additionally, reports suggested that Aouar has agreed to join the north Londoners, with Barcelona and Juventus having failed to step up their interest in his services.
Jean-Michel Aulas wants to keep Houssem Aouar away from Arsenal
Aulas has this morning responded to an article claiming Aouar has chosen to join Arsenal.
He wrote from his personal Twitter account: “@OL there will be very few departures: for Houssem Arsenal is much too far from his value: we count on him to make a big game in Lorient and lead OL in CL next year.”
It is unclear at this stage what Lyon would accept for Aouar, who they have previously valued at closer to £54m.
