Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson admits the Premier League champions failed to maintain their usual high standards towards the end of last season, but last week’s win at Chelsea has helped restore confidence and build momentum ahead of Monday’s heavyweight showdown against Arsenal.
Jurgen Klopp’s side cantered to the title last season but displayed signs of vulnerability during the run-in and began the current campaign by losing to the Gunners on penalties in the Community Shield and conceded three times in an opening day seven-goal thriller against Leeds at Anfield.
Liverpool returned to their ruthless best at Stamford Bridge last weekend, recording their first clean sheet in nine matches in the process, and will put their 100% start to the season on the line on against rapidly improving Arsenal.
The signings of Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota have given an added boost to the feelgood factor around Anfield and, after a slight wobble, Alisson is confident Liverpool are returning to their best form.
