Thomas Partey and Lucas Torreira latest as Arsenal seek solution for all parties

Arsenal and Atletico Madrid could reach agreements over two separate transfers this week.

The Gunners are keen to reduce the number of players in their squad before the window closes in October, and Lucas Torreira could be the first to leave after falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta.

That agreement could give Arsenal the funds they need to make an offer for Thomas Partey, with the Spanish side keen to keep the two deals independent so they can get their requested fee.

The latest update on their respective futures suggest that Atletico are looking at an initial loan deal, which would not allow the Premier League side to sanction the spend.

Sky Sports have reported that Arsenal need some incoming cash to fund their £45m move for Partey, and need to agree a permanent deal or an initial loan with an obligation to buy.

The report adds that Atletico would rather not commit to the payment, and that a deal with the Gunners for Torreira would clear the way for their Ghana international.

Arteta spoke to the media on Friday ahead of their back-to-back visits to Anfield next week, but he refused to talk about specific targets when asked about links to Jorginho.

He said: “We are still open to improve. We are looking for different options depending on what happens with our players here.
