Arsenal are in talks with Atletico Madrid over a deal to offload Lucas Torreira, but midfielder Thomas Partey is not part of the ongoing negotiations.
After securing the services of no less than five players this summer, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has turned his attention to clearing out the deadwood at the Emirates.
Among those he’s deemed to be surplus to requirements is defensive midfielder Torreira, who has fallen down the pecking order since his tenure in north London began.
La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are admirers of Torreria and are currently locked in talks with Arsenal over a season-long loan for the 24-year-old.
And according to the Evening Standard, Atletico coach Diego Simeone is close securing the midfielder’s signature.

A stumbling block, however, has arisen in Atletico’s reluctance to have an obligation-to-buy clause in the deal, which Arsenal are keen to implement.
It was thought that Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey would be part of the deal to see Torreira swap the English capital for its Spanish counterpart. That, however, hasn’t proven to be the case.
Arsenal are long-time admirers of the 27-year-old and are hopeful of bringing him to the Emirates before the transfer window shuts on October 5.
