Roma have joined the race to sign Lucas Torreira, according to Tuttosport (via Sports Witness) .

The Uruguayan midfielder joined Arsenal from Sampdoria but has found first-team opportunities limited under Mikel Arteta of late.

The club are now open to selling the midfielder, and they have fielded interest from Torino, Fiorentina, and now Roma.

Torino were leading the race and wanted to agree an initial loan deal with an option to buy the player if certain goals were met.

The report states that Arsenal are unconvinced by that proposal, and that has seen Tuttosport claim that Roma have entered the chase for Torreira.

Torino remain interested in securing the midfielder, but their pursuit is not ‘as safe’ as it was a few days prior.

Tuttosport claim that Roma are considering a potential swap deal with Amadou Diawara as well as a straight cash offer for Torreira.
