Diego Simeone has already delivered his Lucas Torreira verdict amid talk of Thomas Partey swap

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is reportedly keen to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira this summer.

According to Sport 890 – a publication in Uruguay – the Argentine tactician has contacted the Gunners star personally and told him that he wants to sign him before the summer transfer window shuts next month.

In addition, journalist Sebas Giovanelli hints that Torreira could be tempted by a move to Atletico and that’s despite looking set for a return to Italy amid links to Torino and Fiorentina.

“There is no truth in these rumours, we have not spoken to anyone and besides it is too early to do so just yet,” the club’s Sporting Director Daniele Prade said – as per Semprinter.com.

“As our President Massimo Ferrero has already said we do not want to sell anyone in January, unless there are some players that are unhappy or not getting much playing time and want to move on, in which case we will do our best to help them find a quick resolution.”
