Dani Ceballos marked his return to Premier League football with an eventful afternoon at Craven Cottage.
The midfielder rejoined the Gunners on another 12-month loan deal from Real Madrid, and is expected to again be an important part of Mikel Arteta’s plans this season.
But the Spain international was left on the bench as the Gunners travelled to west London for their first Premier League clash against Fulham on Saturday.
Arteta opted to start Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka in midfield, with Ceballos having to settle for a place on the bench.

The 24-year-old started the afternoon in dramatic fashion, after getting in a heated exchange with Eddie Nketiah during a pre-match training routine.
As picked up by the BT Sport cameras, the England Under-21 international flew into the Spaniard during a ‘rondo’ drill.
Ceballos didn’t take too kindly to the attempted challenge and hit out by pushing the striker in the chest.

Interestingly, as reported by the Evening Standard, Ceballos and Nketiah both came out before kick-off with the subs and sat at opposite ends of the bench.
The midfielder did eventually come onto the pitch as a second half substitute for Xhaka with just over 10 minutes to go in the game.
And the Spaniard immediately showed his skill with a nutmeg on Fulham midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa on the edge of the opposition’s box.
