But Gunners first team manager Arteta is thought to be eyeing more signings to add depth to his squad ahead of a long campaign, with a central midfielder high up on his list of targets.
Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey is a player that Arsenal have been tracking for months, with several bids reported to have been rejected for the Ghana international.
The La Liga side have told the Gunners that they must meet the player’s £45 million release clause to sign him, something that the north Londoners may struggle to do without raising funds from selling players.
Lyon’s Houssem Aouar is another player linked with a move to the Emirates, with his impressive displays for the French club in the Champions League alerting a host of clubs, including Juventus, Manchester City and Arsenal.
Lyon sporting director Juninho has confirmed he has spoken to his Arsenal counterpart Edu, but the most recent discussions broke down due to the player the Gunners offered in exchange.
Arsenal made a player-plus-cash deal involving unwanted midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, but Lyon turned the offer down.
Houssem Aouar has been linked with a move to Arsenal throughout the summer.
